Project Breakdown
- Divide into two sub-teams within our larger team: one sub-team will investigate the relationship between medical school curriculum and unequal outcomes U.S. healthcare for Black women, another subteam will explore the attitudes of community members toward the healthcare system, care they have received, and resources available. We would like to specifically focus on maternal healthcare outcomes for Black women
- Once we have completed our literature review more in-depth, we will have a more developed and specific timeline for completion of our research project. More literature review will allow us to better articulate the specifics of our methodology. We hope we can finish a bulk of the literature review process and have more clarity regarding this in the Fall 2022 semester.
- We do not yet know the specifics of our budget yet. At this time, we do not anticipate needing any more than the $3000 throughout our time as students of the Gemstone Honors Program. One real expense we anticipate is if we choose to provide compensation for participants who fill out our surveys and/or meet with us for data collection purposes. Additionally, we have thought about the possibility of creating a mobile maternal healthcare unit, which likely would cost more. However, this has not been decided yet and we have not done adequate research to estimate the budget potentially required for this undertaking.
